🖼️ Guidelines for Limited Edition vs. Non-Limited Edition Prints

🔷 Limited Edition Prints

Definition:
A specific artwork is printed in a pre-defined, finite quantity—never to be reprinted in that format or size after the limit is reached.

Recommended Guidelines:

Element Recommendation
Edition Size 25, 50, or 100 (common and manageable)
Certificate of Authenticity (COA) Yes, signed with edition number (e.g. 12/100)
Numbering Format Handwritten or digital (e.g. 1/100) on the back of the canvas or on COA
Unique Features Special subject themes (Rocky Mountains, Fantasy Realms, etc.), rare sizes, artist-curated collections
Reprint Restrictions Never reissued in the same size, format, and finish
Price Higher price than open editions (typically 2–4×)
Delivery Include COA + optional intro card and artist note
Digital Archiving Keep internal records of each print sold and who purchased (email, event log)

🔶 Non-Limited Edition Prints (Open Editions)

Definition:
An artwork that can be reproduced indefinitely. Often more affordable and available in various sizes.

Recommended Guidelines:

Element Recommendation
No limit on quantity Available for ongoing sale in various sizes
No COA required Optional artist signature if desired
Labeling Do not number the print or use “limited edition” terminology
Format Often smaller sizes, or printed on other mediums (bags, pillows, tapestries)
Price Standard pricing (great for gifts or décor shoppers)
Artwork Use May also appear on other products (e.g. bags, apparel, blankets)
