Why Trees?

If you’ve seen much of my work, you’ve probably figured it out—trees are one of my favorite subjects. I return to them again and again, not because I want to replicate nature exactly, but because I’m drawn to the shapes, the movement, the sense of quiet strength they hold.

Many of my trees don’t look like the ones outside your window. That’s intentional. These are representations, impressions—my way of exploring what a tree feels like to me. Sometimes they’re brighter than life. Sometimes they lean into contrast or motion or a kind of abstract energy. But always, they’re rooted in admiration.

Think of my forest as a place where color and form take the lead, and where nature is filtered through memory, imagination, and mood. It’s not realism—it’s what lives in my head, and hopefully something that resonates with you, too.
